Sheboygan County Clean Sweep

 

Sheboygan County Clean Sweep will take place on Friday and Saturday, June 12-13. Clean Sweep is a household and farm hazardous waste disposal program for all Sheboygan County farms and households. Sponsored by the Sheboygan County Planning and Conservation Department, UW-Extension and Wisconsin Department of Agriculture. The goal is to get rid of hazardous waste and protect families, domestic animals and environment.
• Friday, June 12, from 1 to 5 p.m., a collection will take place at the Sheboygan County Highway Department, South-side shed, 7614 Frontage Road, Sheboygan.
• Saturday, June 13, from 8 to 11 a.m., collection will take place at the Sheboygan County Highway Department, Cascade Shed, W6451 State Hwy 28, Cascade.
There is a modest fee per vehicle so make your trip worthwhile, and don't be afraid to include materials from your relations, neighbors or friends. The goal is to get rid of hazardous materials.
Per vehicle charge for hazardous waste is $10. Vehicle charge for only electronics is $25. Vehicle charge with both hazardous waste and electronics is $25. For more disposal information, you can go to the county website at http://www.sheboygancounty.com/home/showdocument?id=5238.
Acceptable materials include: plant, pest and yard maintenance chemicals. Oil-based paints, solvents, cleaners and related products (no latex paints). Farm machinery and vehicle products, such as contaminated oil, hydraulic oil, anti-freeze, old gasoline and farm oil filters. Other items include household fluorescent bulbs, bulk mercury and mercury-containing devices, household bulbs, acids and bases, and photographic chemicals. Agri-business materials are accepted but will be assessed a separate fee, usually 50 percent of the disposal cost.
